A year and a half ago, I was skeptical dealing with a new online service. Looking for an itunes type service that would allow me to have music without installing an application, I tried buy.com. I purchased around 10 tunes and had problems with the licensing for all of them. After complaining, buy.com refunded my card. So they passed the first test! Honest transactions. I have purchased several items through them afterwards and they have given me a good price and shipped quickly, even when the shipping is free (economic shipping). I will be doing business with them again and soon.

I have purchased products from this company more than ten times in the last 3 years, never had one bad experience with them. Frankly, I am quite amazed at the experiences some have had and at the low overall rating afforded Buy.com - in my opinion, this is one of the more ethical and reasonable companies doing e-business today.

I have used Buy.com several times over the past couple of years... never a problem. Products always show up on time. at a low price, and with free shipping. I only order things on line that I don't think will require service... I like to look people in the eye if I have a service issue.

I have dealt with Buy.com for several years and have NEVER had a problem that wasn't be handled quickly and efficiently. The ONLY problem I EVER had was with a rebate on a 5.2 Mg Fuji camera. When my rebate failed to show up in the alloted time period, I notified them by email and they promptly issued me a $30 credit on my credit card. Within about 2 weeks, the check arrived. I consider that my consolation prize for the extra wait time and hassle. After 10 or more orders from them (most of my computer hardware and peripherals came from them), I am completely satisfied with their delivery time, prices and product line. I will continue to do business with them in the future ... at least until the time when I have some 'Awful' experiences of my own to report. Buyers, do your homework and research to make sure you are getting what you expect and a price you are satisfied with. Nuff said ....

I don't usually write such reviews, but I just have to jump in on Buy.com, because I'm amazed at the 2 1/2 stars rating given overall by reviewers here. I've ordered from them numerous times over a 3-4 year period and have never had a really bad experience. And this is, I think, the problem with such customer opinion ratings: those who have good experiences just don't take the time to write reviews while those who have some gripe--sometimes no matter how petty--seek out places like this to vent their anger. For one thing, when I'm getting the lowest price I can find anywhere, which is when I order from Buy.com, I tend to be much more patient and tolerant of a little longer wait to get FREE delivery; or even a little snafu here or there. In all honesty, though, I would have very little to complain about these things even if I was one of those who simply won't tolerate anything short of perfection. I end up buying from Buy.com (and Amazon--a similar story) more than from anyone on the Internet; and I order a lot. I estimate that 90-95% of the time I am really surprised at how fast and painless the order/delivery has been. In fact, here is the only true frustration I've had with Buy.com: My wife and I ordered Motorola RAZR V3's (the new black) back in August '05, for $249.99 each and free after rebates (which we couldn't request until after 6 months--understandable, and acceptable to us). They also came with free Bluetooth headsets. I had called Buy.com's cell phone ordering department (an operation in India, I suspected) and was told the phones were available. My phone was shipped promptly, with headset (it was "my phone" because it was MY cell phone number being transferred to the new phone--not because I arbitrarily claimed the first phone received as MINE!). The online order status indicated the order was partially filled; a day or two later we were notified that the other phone would not be shipped--they had no more available. I called the cell phone customer service people--clearly Indian--and was told the order could not be fulfilled. Yes, that was very frustrating, but things happen; so they ran out of phones at that price. Still, I did not just give up and rush here to ***** about it. I continued ******** around for a similar offer, determined that my wife would have her phone. A couple of days later I saw that Buy.com again had the same free V3 offer back online. I placed a new order and received my wife's phone promptly. Another snafu: no free Bluetooth headset. This was irksome to me. I called the Indian folks again and was told a headset would be shipped to me in a couple of days. But, somehow, I guess because it was too "easy," I had little faith that I would ever get it. After pondering it a couple of days, I figured I would write Buy.com to complain about the snafus, thinking that might help assure that they really did follow through with the free headset. I got no response from them, but I was willing to give them a few days to investigate and get back to me. A couple of days later, we received a Motorola headset! Then about a week later, we received another one, obviously as a result of the email complaint. Any feeling of guilt for getting another one free soon was soothed by my rationalization that we "deserved" it, for the frustration they caused us. And, that's it. One bad experience, which when all is said and done, was really not all that bad at all. Our latest experience with Buy.com was when I returned two Linksys WMP54GS PCI cards for refund--we decided to hardwire the PC's instead. I shipped them back (the shrink wrap had been opened) on 1/19/06. On 2/3/06 we were notified that the refunds would be posted to our credit card in 3-5 days. I really can't complain about that. Now, I'm certain that not everyone has been so "lucky" in their experiences, and I do not fault them for posting their gripes, but I suspect for every really bad experience there is someone with a really good one who didn't bother to post it here. And that is the problem with these "reviews." Show me a company these days that can't make a mistake occasionally, or that simply can't satisfy everyone 100% of the time, maybe even through no real fault of their own. I just can't imagine that for all the times we have ordered painlessly from Buy.com that there could be so many others who have had such poor results. We have been very satisfied with the prices, delivery and service. I imagine some of those who perceived they have been ripped off simply made errors themselves in not researching their purchases first and not paying attention to details of what they are ordering online or the policies of the seller. And others are probably very immature, impatient or unreasonable. We all know these types. I urge you to share your own good experiences with sellers. Otherwise, these reviews are pretty much useless to all of us.

I gave them an average because I have bought from them before and it went perfectly. However I just placed an order which they completely bungled and sent me the wrong thing. Now I'm having trouble just getting in contact with them to send it back, let alone get what I originally bought. I need it for a present so I'm pretty upset about the whole thing. It's a risky proposition to buy from them. Just cross your fingers that everything goes right.
